Where to purchase/price: I bought the Konjac Sponge (Green Tea) from a local Pharmacy and cost me NZ$4.99. It usually cost at NZ$8.00. It was on sale when I bought this. I have never used anything similar before but at this price, worth a try.
About the product: Konjac Sponge is a 100% natural facial and body cleansing sponge made from vegetable fibres of Konjac (Konnyaku). The Konjac sponge has been used in Japan first as a bath sponge for new born babies for more than 100 years because of its soft texture. The Konjac sponge look like a 'kitchen' sponges (You can see from the above picture).
Key Features:
- Clean skin pores in eliminating blackheads, dirt and oil
- Kill acne or pimples
- Moisturises your skin when use
- Gently exfoliates your skin
- Balances out the pH of your skin
- Ideal for people with hypersensitive skin
I did some research from the Internet, there are heaps of different brand of Konjac Sponge. The price range can be from US $2 to US $14 also different colour sponge can help with different skin types and issue. Below are some examples:
1. Green (Green Tea) - It can help the skin supple and has a soothing and moisturising effect.
2. Purple (Lavender) - Accelerate cell regeneration, removes bacteria and eliminates blackheads. Helps with allergies.
3. Yellow (Lemon) - Packed full of Vitamin C and ideal for cleansing the skin. Helps to remove dark spots.
2. Massage your face or body with the sponge in circling direction, either with or without cleaning soap
3. After use, rinse it and dry in a cool place for next use
Final Thoughts: I have been using this Konjac Sponge for 2 month. I use it on my 'double' cleansing stage with the normal cleanser. It seems like it doesn't do anything, however I can feel my skin softer and I think I have fewer blackheads around my nose. I am satisfy with this Konjac Sponge but I can't say I super love it. If the pharmacy is having a sale again, I may buy another colour to try. If you asked me to pay US $14 for the Sponge, I probably won't buy it again. I would suggest if you want to try the Konjac Sponge, buy a cheap one from eBay first.
